I didn’t see this coming, not the .BA part. His power was never a question. I always thought of him as a hacker, feast or famine type. He’s a career .250 guy including just last season hitting .240.

Hard to say what the Mets will do. Pete might put them in a tough spot. If he really has an MVP type season all the way through I can imagine something like a high AAV, 4/150-type deal but nothing too long-term. If that happens though you basically need to find a new home for Vientos because between he, Soto and Pete (who to his credit has been league average defensively this year) you can't manage with three DH types in the lineup.

It's a good problem to have really because God knows Pete wants to stay and be a lifer Met. You just have to hope this resurgence is somehow real and at least mostly sustainable.
