Who is your NBA MVP this season?
The argument is between SGA and Jokic for a lot of people.
In my opinion, Jokic is the superior player but SGA is the MVP.
The Thunder won 68 games (most in the league) and he's the best player on that team by a decent margin. 33/5/6 on 52% and 38% from 3.
Jokic's statistical resume is more impressive and if the games won were closer then I think he would have a better case, but the Thunder won 18 more games than the Nuggets.
Winning has to matter here when the gap is that wide.
Great season for both of them though.

Re: Who is your NBA MVP this season?
SGA easily. I spent years watching the media change the MVP criteria in order to screw Kobe out of MVPs.. “his team record isn’t good enough it’s supposed to be the best player on the best team” but then Westbrook came along and averaged a triple double and suddenly it’s about the stats (same deal for Jokic).
So fuck that..
So fuck that..

Re: Who is your NBA MVP this season?
Voter fatigue will give it to SGA and I can't get too upset over that.
But in reality, I think the answer should be Jokic. There is no doubt on God's green earth that he is the best player on the planet. And the gap is pretty wide between him and whoever you choose as number 2.
Because the award is for Most Valuable Player and not Best Player, there is a lot of wiggle room there depending on which side of the fence you are on.
Jokic's team without him is in the lottery. There is virtually no doubt about that. We have enough evidence based on games he has missed and in particular, the team's performance when he's not on the floor whether he is playing that day or not.
OKC is deep and has a ton of top end talent, not just SGA. He turns them from a very good team into an excellent team.
He is the flavor of the month and will win it.
Jokic won't exactly be the first guy to have been hard done by because of voter fatigue. Jordan, LeBron and Shaq almost for sure deserved more than they got, but that is the system we have.

SGA has a stronger case than some think IMO
He actually grades even with Jokic on a number of impact metrics.
Jokic for what the award should be but probably SGA based on what it actually is in practice

Jokic's numbers are freaky but I don't see how it doesn't go to SGA. The won 68 games and he's got great stats. He's obviously deserving of it. If I had a vote, and based on past criteria, I'd vote SGA this year.
Re: Who is your NBA MVP this season?
I agree with the majority here. I think jokic is clearly the best player in the league but SGA should win it. One argument that stuck with me is someone was comparing their stats against the top 10 teams in the league and while neither player stats changed much, SGA played in 8 more of those games and his team had a better record. The nuggets didn’t have less games against top 10 opponents, he just so happened to sit in 8 games against top 10 opponents. Shai showed up more often in the games that mattered most and in a race this tight, I think that value add means a lot
Re: Who is your NBA MVP this season?
Jokic and Sga will split the vote and it'll end up going to Giannis or LeBron.

Sga and Donovan Mitchell.
Denver’s record is too mediocre with that top talent for jokic to get it

He said, "Denver’s record is too mediocre with that top talent for jokic to get it."... and he's exactly right, as Denver's supporting cast is literally right-there with BOS, OKC and CLE:Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 8:52 pmwutAtiliusRegulus wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 8:23 am

Now... when you take an elite-level supporting cast (like those four) and add Joker to the mix, there's no reason for the Nuggets not to win a Championship SINCE he's the best player in the game by faaaaaaaar and away (according to you/others).
Put another way: Joker (the White Jesus of the NBA) + supporting cast on-par with the 3 best teams in the NBA record-wise = No Excuses For Jokic this year.
I am sure you/others will concur.

Boston's +/- without Tatum this year: +8.7
OKC's +/- without SGA this year: +5.8
Cleveland's +/- without Mitchell this year: +7.7
97 Bulls' +/- without Jordan: +5.3
Denver's +/- without Jokic: -8.5
Not precisely on the same level. Close though!
Also note that this troll is getting boring. Please be more creative or funny going forward. Thanks much

You've posted this or roughly equivalent several times. To anyone with an IQ above room temperature, it should end the discussion.Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:05 am Boston's +/- without Tatum this year: +8.7

Astute hoops fans know that the REAL difference in the 4 teams is Defense:
OKC: 1st
BOS: 5th
CLE: 8th
DEN: 22nd
...and Defense is based on Effort and Energy NOT talent/skill, clearly suggesting Joker hasn't made Defense enough of a focal point in his game (as the undisputed leader of the team), which in turn does not inspire his teammates to play high-level/elite Defense. This is also the main reason why LeFraud has soooo many losses in the Finals and to lower seeds.
Yes bush-league, meatball grizz, and the rest of the BWGC, Defense does matter, even when discussing players other than Bill Russell. Joker simply does not bring-it on that end of the floor like a once-in-a-generation player 'should'... and that is why he only has 1 ring, got nothing to do with the talent/skill of his supporting cast.
GTHOH with your nonsense already...

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

I know enough to know that anyone who uses a flawed stat to determine the caliber of a player/supporting cast is the person with no clue whatsoever.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 5:41 pmBased on this post you CLEARLY don’t have a clue what +/- represents.
