I can't believe this has even been a debate.

People don't seem to understand the relative size/weight of gorillas. The absolute largest silverbacks are under 6 ft tall, and ~500 lbs. While that is definitely heavier and stronger than the average guy, it's not in the realm of unbeatable in physical combat.

Gorillas aren't agile and fast like a big cat, don't have the stamina of humans, and are pretty uncoordinated for their size.

If every dude was committed and coordinated, you could take down a gorilla with a significantly lower number of humans. Hit & run, bait tactics, coordinated pack & attrition combat, much higher intelligence level, etc. The advantages a pack of dudes has over a single gorilla are numerous, and the gorilla would wear down long before the humans. Realistically 100 guys just running at a gorilla would terrify it and it would run.

Now if the question was something like 100 men VS a Kodiak bear, it would be much more favored towards the bear.

Per a quick Google search the average male weighs 200 pounds.

That's 20,000 pounds of man versus around 500 pounds of gorilla.

I feel like men could just topple it by charging it simultaneously and weighing it down.

Sure, a few Jimmies and Joes are getting demolished and maybe some will run after seeing the death but overall I think the males just beat it by having a massive overall weight advantage and a clear intelligence advantage.

With time to plan and strategize, the people win if they don’t get scared seeing a couple people being torn apart.
